VDMA 24247-5 "Energy Efficiency of Refrigeration Systems, Part 5: Industrial Refrigeration" provides planners and operators with information on how and by what means the energy efficiency of refrigeration systems and cooling processes in industry can be optimised and how the operator can exert influence by complying with maintenance requirements.
VDMA Specification 24188, which was published with the publication date June 2011, has now been translated. The specification entitled “Smoke Protection Measures For Stairwells – Removal Of Smoke, Dilution Of Smoke, Smoke Extraction” is now available in German and English.
VDMA 24247-7 "Control, energy management and efficient system management” serve as shared guidelines and a checklist for investors, designers and operators. It provides information and recommendations on how the type and scope of the measurement and control technology can create the conditions for designing, constructing and operating refrigeration systems energy-efficiently.
VDMA 24247-4 „Supermarket refrigerating, commercial refrigeration, refrigerated cabinets” applicable for the operation of retail refrigeration systems, refrigeration rooms and the corresponding refrigeration equipment in food retailing with the market formats ranging from discount and supermarket to hypermarket.
VDMA 24247-3:2011-11 Energy Efficiency of Refrigeration Systems, Part 3 “Guidelines for an improved energy efficiency in cold storages” provides practical assistance for improving the energy efficiency of cold and deep-freeze storages. It is not limited to the refrigeration system, but covers the entire cold storage site.
VDMA 24247-1 "Contribution of refrigerating and air conditioning systems to climate protection – Improvement of energy efficiency – Reducing greenhouse-related emissions”. The VDMA Specification describes measures to achieve the energy savings potential up to 40%.
VDMA 24020-5 “Refrigerating systems with refrigerants of low flammability (Safety Group A2 according to DIN EN 378) assists the operators in the fulfillment of the operator obligations and gives recommendations for a safe operation.
VDMA 24020-4 "Refrigeration systems with carbon dioxide” (CO2 – R744) helps the operators to comply with the operating requirements and provides recommendations for safe operation of refrigeration plants using the refrigerant carbon dioxide.
VDMA 24020-3 "Refrigerating systems with flammable refrigerants” provides recommendations for the safe operation of refrigeration systems and describes the interfaces to the design requirements. It relates to the operation of refrigeration systems and heat pumps with flammable refrigerants of Safety Group A3 according to DIN EN 378-1.
The VDMA Refrigeration and Heat Pump Technology Association has published VDMA Specification 11499:2008-08 “Operation and use of refrigerated display cabinets” in collaboration with the Fachgruppe Kühlmöbel (Specialized Group Refrigeration Cabinets), and the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging.
VDMA 11498:2011-04 “Operating costs of refrigerated display cabinets” provides planning assistance for the layout design and for incorporating refrigerated display cabinets into the overall concept of food stores. The VDMA Specification helps in deciding on the right type of device and the use of different equipment options for cost-optimized operation.
VDMA 24247-8 "Energy efficiency of refrigerating systems" deals with the component “heat exchanger” for refrigerating and air conditioning systems, as well as for heat pumps.
It focuses on correct selection, energy-efficient operation and necessary maintenance, in order to guarantee energy-efficient overall operation of the refrigerating and air conditioning systems and heat pumps.
“Operational Requirements for Refrigerating Systems” provides recommendations for the safe operation of refrigeration systems. Part 2 covers non flammable refrigerants, which are in the safety group A1 according to EN 378-1.
VDMA's Refrigeration and Heat Pump Technology Association has compiled VDMA Specification 24249:2014-05 “Influence of water on the process of CO2-refrigerant cycles and the materials used” together with the Institute for Thermal Separation Process, Heat and Material Transport working group, at Hamburg University of Technology.
The Blasting Technology Working Group deals with questions relating to fire and explosion protection for blasting systems and has created a uniform reference for the industry with the standard sheet VDMA 24388.
